Defining Hiring Criteria, Interview Process and Team

In the first two MicroBursts, you focus on a hiring strategy.  An empty seat creates stress - there is more work to be done, your team is stretched.  A Hiring Strategy can take less than 30-minutes to prepare, but will ensure you are strategic in your hire.

Review Resumes & Screen Candidates

Whether you have hundreds of interested candidates or just a few, your initial review of the resume will help you determine viable candidates and keep your process efficient.  Working from your Hiring Strategy, you will review the resume and begin the process of screening in or screening out candidates.

In this MicroBurst, you will be offered a template to document a simple, but robust Hiring Strategy.

Create Traditional Interview Questions

The first type of questions you will need are traditional - they explore the work experience, technical competencies, education, and other fundamental requirements of your position.

Build Behavioral Event (BEI) Questions

The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior.  If your candidate has been successful performing a task in the past, it is likely they will be successful in the future.  Behavioral Event Interview questions, or BEI, will help you evaluate a candidate's competences with confidence.

Align the Interview Team

Once you have your Hiring Strategy, you have the blueprint for a great hire.  In your Hiring Strategy, you will have identified the critical colleagues who will interview each candidate and in what areas you want each interview team member to focus.
